Do you want to turn flat sheets of metal into incredible three-dimensional objects? Our introduction to sheet metal fabrication is your chance to unlock the potential of this versatile craft. You’ll move beyond simple ideas and learn to shape, bend, and join metal with confidence.

In this hands-on session, Adam will introduce you to the core techniques of sheet metal fabrication. You’ll learn how to safely and accurately measure, mark, and cut metal, using tools like tin snips and shears. We’ll also cover essential processes like bending and forming, using a brake and other manual tools to give metal its shape. These are the foundational skills that empower you to take a raw material and transform it into a finished product.

What can you create after just two hours? You could start with a simple but practical project, like a custom metal box for tools or a unique planter for your garden. With practice, you could fabricate decorative wall art, small brackets for home repairs, or even a custom computer case. This orientation gives you the tools and the knowledge to begin your journey into a world of endless creative and practical possibilities. Register now to start bending your ideas into reality!

OVERVIEW

The history of sheet metal is deeply intertwined with human innovation, from medieval armor to the sleek body panels of modern cars and airplanes. It’s a process that combines precision with practicality. Learning these skills connects you to a long tradition of designers and engineers who have shaped our world.

Whether you are fabricating a part or creating a prototype for discussion, expanding your metalworking skillset with sheet metal opens up a wide variety of options. Imagine building sturdy metal furniture, repairing automotive parts, or fabricating custom metalwork for your home or garden.

In this 2-hour class you will learn fundamental skills necessary to make fabricate in sheet metal. Your instructor will explain safety concerns, describe how the equipment works, familiarize you with essential terminology, introduce you to basic processes, and demonstrate appropriate equipment operation. You will learn how to set up the equipment, prepare your material, fixture your parts, and understand what it takes to make successful projects. You will develop a working understanding of the benefits and limitations of sheet metal so you are prepared to design with this process in mind. Along the way you will gain the knowledge and confidence to process appropriate material safely and troubleshoot typical issues.

This is a hands-on training. You will have time during class to create a finished object to your instructor’s specification that demonstrates your understanding of the process and your ability to safely operate this equipment.
