Want to help us create a beginners drone fabrication kit?

Join us on Saturday, February 8th to plan and prototype our Bento Multirotor Kit! The goal is to create an inexpensive kit of parts that can be assembled, with guidance from trained professionals, in a two hour workshop. The process should not require any prerequisite skills, the drone should be ready to pair and fly by the end of the workshop, and (because this experience is aimed at beginners) the drone should be extremely safe and easy to fly. Big bonus points if the drone kit enables future upgrades.

The objective of the Bento Kit is to provide a very low barrier to entry for people who are curious about multirotor drones but don’t know where to start. We want this to be a great place to get off the ground. Many people who are interested in drones don’t get involved because drones are expensive, prone to damage, and complicated to fix. The Bento Kit gives a hands-on opportunity to fabricate a custom drone with almost no investment. Then, if people want to get more involved they can make significant upgrades to this platform (better motors, bigger batteries, adding fpv, etc.) before scaling up.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pilot/fabricator, this project will put your enthusiasm and expertise to good use as we look to bring more people into this amazing technology!

Who Can Join?

This event is open to everyone! No matter your skill level, you’ll have a blast flying and improving your understanding of drone technology in a fun, supportive environment.

What You’ll Need

No need to bring anything—we’ll provide everything to keep this project moving forward!

Flight Club is a meetup devoted to the future of flight and learning together. Our meetup events include time for Show & Tell of your projects as well as ongoing exploration of upcoming classes, projects, and events. There will be time for discussion about your goals for moving forward. We expect our initial projects to include group builds of inexpensive flight ready fixed wing aircraft and/or multirotor drones as well as build days to work on your individual projects in a collaborative setting. When the weather improves look forward to flight events where we’ll get out of the shop and into the sky … followed by fix-it clinics to put your drones back together.

Over time you will gain the knowledge to step up to increasingly demanding builds. We’ll support you with access to equipment and supplies as well as the growing knowledge you need to push forward.

Bring your questions and be prepared for an informative experience as we dive into the future together. Note that, eventually,  our intent is to offer FLIGHT CLUB memberships. We are currently offering meetups at no charge.
